About the Author
Matt Frisbie is a software engineer at Google, and author of the Packt Publishing bestseller AngularJS Web Application Development Cookbook. He also recorded two video series for O'Reilly Media, Introduction to Modern Client-Side Programming; and Learning AngularJS. He speaks about Angular at frontend developer meetups, and has also done Angular webcasts for O'Reilly.

Before this, Matt was the first engineer at DoorDash (YC S13) and a number of other startups. He is a 2012 graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in computer engineering. He lives in the San Francisco bay area.

The author has a great grasp on the nitty gritty of making complex apps ...

This is a well written recipe book for intermediate and advanced users of Angular 2. It assumes knowledge of javascript and core Angular concepts. I found the topics to be wide ranging, and each recipe is usually 1-5 pages long. The author has a great grasp on the nitty gritty of making complex apps using Angular. I also have a copy of the AngularJS Web Application Development Cookbook by the same author on my bookshelf and like before the author has done a great job with this book.

Writing in the book is intelligent, and the order is well structured. There's nothing unexpected here - it's a book full of practical solutions to hundreds of everyday problems. I think certain sections could do a little better with more of a meta-view of the concepts and ideas new in Angular 2 but overall the author has done an incredible job.

The first chapter, "Strategies for upgrading to Angular 2" is meant to be a guided transition to angular 2, but it likely won't suffice if you're new to angular, and certainly won't prepare you if you're relatively unfamiliar with javascript in general. This book is primarily intended for the everyday Angular developer who wants dive in and start using the new version in projects.

If you are familiar with Angular 2 basics, a cover-to-cover reading of this book will take you to the next level, but most developers will only read the entries that pertain to the problems they face during development.

What I really like about this book is how the author dives in each of the example, elaborating each example code and makes it easy to understand what's going on (book comes with the source code which you can download). If practice makes you stronger, this book should be in your shelf or digital reader.

Hilarious and original, deep and thorough

These are just a few of the hilarious and original easter eggs that are sprinkled liberally throughout this gem of a book. This book has an incredibly approachable style, yet is still technically deep. The cookbook format an excellent way to structure the book, as it makes dipping in and out for just what you need very quick. Not only that, but the writing style is very friendly, and as I mentioned above, laugh out loud funny at times.

Another huge bonus to this book is that the author has painstakingly put every code sample in the book online in a runnable plunker on the companion site. You can just open up that website to tinker and hack with examples right away without having to do any cloning or set up.

Overall I highly recommend it, you'll learn a lot and enjoy it along the way.

Great book! The author is particularly good at making things seem simple. The book is approachable and the subjects are well explained. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to broaden their knowledge of Angular and those looking to take it to the next level.

Flawed early effort from a now-respectable author

Caged Wolf is too raunchy to be a romance, not sexy enough to be porn, and too disjointed to make any sense. The story features a heroine I genuinely disliked. For instance, this woman is hurt and angry that she doesn't GET TO work in a nearby brothel, so she ONLY gets to strip and pole dance for tips, which she willingly does even though it isn't her job (she was hired to tend bar). She admits she's been a prostitute and a drug addict and has slept with a thousand men, some of whom her ex pimped her out to. Why then are we supposed to care that more men want to exploit her, including her ex? You either think that kind of lifestyle is terrible or you don't. You either want to be a ho or you don't.

Add to that a bIzarre case of instantaneous lust/love (that's never explained beyond "you smell good"), a lot of smoldering looks, painfully stilted dialog, awful, arbitrary sex scenes and a lot of really strange choices by the main characters (such as both owners having to leave for days to get a generator fixed when they knew a dangerous and unpredictable biker gang was in town?), some stock werewolf info (wolves are territorial, wolves have a hierarchy, it hurts to shift forms) and it all adds up to a rather tedious unattractive, heaving mess of a story.

This author subsequently honed her skills and became a much, much better writer than this. I honestly can't recommend such a poorly thought out and executed book as this to any but the author's most die hard fans. And even then, you've been warned.

The book shows promise but wasn't a favorite of mine

Well, this was a very interesting book. The story was confusing at times and I wasn’t sure where the story was heading. There is also a lot of violence against men and women in the book that might make some readers uncomfortable with. I apologize in advance if this review sounds a little disjointed, the story left me feeling the same way.

During the book, Ofelia has scenes where she practices magic/witchcraft/spells and talks about learning them from her grandmother when she was little. The storyline is unclear about how Ofelia ended up in Lobo Norte and there is a mystery around what type of creature she is.

What’s also unclear is the mystery surrounding “The Devil” Tarot card Ofelia received in the mail and that’s somehow tied into a crossroads. She and Trouble solve the card but then decide to go on a search for the rest of the cards in the Tarot deck. I’m still unsure why they are doing this; it could be because there was a cryptic note written to Ofelia about looking forward to meeting her, but the story doesn’t connect the two at the end of the book. Many of the other scenes in the book felt awkward or out of place as well in the story.

The story shows great promise but there are a lot of plot points that aren’t connected or are simply absent from the story. I think if those were ironed out, it could be a solid paranormal read. But as it currently stands, while the story is enjoyable, it’s a difficult storyline to follow.

This read has little direction and lacks background for a new reader of this author's writing.

I've read all other books on the author's site and this was very disappointing after all those good reads. This book drags at first, the only reason I could keep up with some chapters was my previous readings from other story lines and previous characters. Without that I would have not finished the book. This book starts to couple characters, that in previous books would seem unlikely. It also includes abusive man/woman/animal sex that was not in any previous reads. I'm not sure where the author is going with these carnal/sexual characters but it definitely does not improve the characters likeability or character purpose in the book. I'm hoping this series will be redeemed with better writing as seen in other series instead of smut writing.

Ratio of academic sludge to remotely useful information, even for high level advanced driver training or driver instructor training is woeful. Very disappointing. Seems obvious that this was written to satisfy some publish or perish requirement. A PHD in psychology is a must in order to have a chance of being able to get much out of this small tomb.

wish I had this when I started my class!

This book is perfect, at least for me. It goes through ON grammar exactly the way I need to see it in order to learn it. Our teacher didn't require this book, but used some examples from it. After looking at the examples I went straight out and ordered the book. This type of grammar instruction probably isn't for everyone, but it made it so much easier for me to understand and learn the structures. I only wish I had it from the beginning of the class, I think I would have done much better!
